In Gratitude to Maestro Juan Flores, Ashaninkan Lineage, Steward of Mayantuyacu, “Shanay-Timpishka”, the boiling river, in the state of Huanaco, in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru.

The name “Yacumama” translates from the Quechua language as “Mother of the Waters”. She is a mythical giant Anaconda from Amazonian folklore, directly connected to the Amazon River as its guardian.

From 2018 through the present , the backdrop of the Alchemy Tree has been my medium for finding symbolic representations for ineffable experiences.

This piece bears witness to the last minutes of George Floyd’s life in which he called out to his Momma in what has been termed a “sacred invocation”. To further quote Lonnae O’Neal: “To call out to his mother is to be known to his maker. The one who gave him to her”.
This is for the Mommas who have to say goodbye everyday.
